Ferguson TED20 - Rebuilding Front Wheel Hubs - Video Tutorial
In this video contributor Gordon runs through rebuilding the front wheel hubs on his TED20. The front wheel hubs connect the wheels to the tractor to enable you to drive the wheels and to swivel so that the tractor can be steered. The hub is the metal casting that the wheel studs are pressed into. The hub also has mounting points for the brake disc or brake drum. When the front wheel hub fails you may experience some warning signs:
Vibration in the steering, which varies as you change speed.
Poor steering control
Knocking
Grinding noises
Clicking noise when turning
If you experience any of these issues it is best to get the problem checked out as the hub may need replacing. In this video Gordon takes a step by step approach to rebuilding the front wheel hubs.
'Continuing on with the front axle, the next job is rebuilding the wheel hubs. Again relatively straight-forward, just a few things to note as you work your way through it. Installing the wheel studs is a bit brutal but we got them in and I think they will work well.'
